Ecovacs just announced two new robot vacuum models, and they seem awesome

New Ecovacs robot vacuums just announced, will compete with Roomba

fanatics, listen up. Ecovacs is making it even easier to clean your whole home with the announcement of its two new models.

The Deebot Ozmo 920 and 950 robots have both vacuuming and mopping power and offer improved navigation, support multi-floor mapping, feature a floating brush design, and have a redesigned air suction channel.

Probably the biggest spec upgrade compared to other Ecovacs products is the combined vacuuming and mopping technologies. This one machine can do the deep cleaning on any floor in your house, whether you need powerful suction or intense scrubbing, all in one go. Both models have 240-milliliter water tanks and an electronically controlled water pump, which precisely controls water output so as to not over or under dampen the cleaning cloth.

So yes, your caked-on dirt and dried liquids will be cleaned up without your floors being left sopping wet.

While other Deebot models are able to transition easily from carpet to hard floors, the Ozmo series bots have carpet detection technology which allows them to avoid carpets while in mopping mode and automatically increase suction on carpets when vacuuming.

Also a step up from their predecessors, the Ozmo 920 and 950 have multi-floor mapping. They’re able to save up to three different maps and recognize where they are as they go about their cleaning. This feature is great for multi-level homes.

Speaking of multi-level homes, the Deebot Ozmo 950 has a super long battery life of around three hours, or 200 minutes. So you can get your whole house spotless without having to take a break to recharge. The Ozmo 920 has a 130-minute runtime, which still gives you a solid timeframe to use the robot cleaner. Both automatically return to their docking stations to charge when battery life is running low.

With the 920 and 950 ringing in at $699.99 and $799.99 respectively, these models give iRobot a run for its money. The Roomba 960 will cost you $649.99, so the cost is comparable, but both of the Ecovacs Deebot models seem to have significantly better features than the Roomba.

“Ecovacs Robotics designed Deebot Ozmo 920 and Deebot Ozmo 950 to meet growing consumer demand for a smarter, more affordable vacuum and mopping robot,” Jonathan Tang, vice president, head of global business at Ecovacs, said in a press release.

The new additions to the Ecovacs lineup replace the need for two robot cleaning machines with the two-in-one vacuuming and mopping functions. They’re also compatible with smart assistants for voice controlled cleaning.

Currently the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 920 and 950 are available for preorder at Amazon and will release on the site Aug. 16. They will be available at other retailers nation-wide in fall 2019.
